When Shahid Kapur made his debut in the entertainment industry as the cute young boy in a music video, nobody thought that he would reach the heights that he has scaled since then. Today Shahid is one of the Top 5 actors in Bollywood, and is regarded as one of the very few actors who can guarantee a solo hit.

After the stupendous success of Vishal Bhardwaj's "Kaminey", Shahid appeared in Ken Ghosh's "Chance Pe Dance", but could not woo the audiences. Though he is said to be working in a couple of projects currently, the one that is being talked about the most is Mausam.

Mausam is the directorial debut for father Pankaj Kapur and is the first film in which Pankaj-Shahid will share screen space. Talking about working with his "now famous" son Shahid, Pankaj says, "When Shahid became an actor he expressed a desire to be directed by me. I thought it’d be wonderful to work with my own son. But I signed him only after I saw the potential in him that I was ready to direct him. We’ve been working on the script for three years. In the meanwhile a really wonderful thing has happened. Shahid became a big star. I’m very proud of him as his father. And Shahid’s stardom is a happy happening for ‘Mausam’."

So what's the film all about? Pankaj is not very forthcoming on this. All he's saying is that the film is based on a love story. Shahid plays the lead role and Pankaj will appear in a very short role. Apart from this, Pankaj is not not spilling any beans. Are you thinking of a certain Sharmila Tagore-Sanjeev Kumar starrer that was also titled Mausam? Don't! Pankaj's "Mausam" is not a remake of the old classic, and he may in fact change the name completely. In his own words, "We’ll try and find an alternative name. I know the association with the film by Gulzar Saab called ‘Mausam’ is too strong. The format of that film was inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s ‘Wild Strawberries’. That ‘Mausam’ is far superior to what I’m trying to achieve in my first film as director."

So on one side, Shahid is all set to show us the "pyar ka mausam" with his next film. On the other side, this young man has a hot new link up to his credit. If reports are to be believed, Shahid Kapur is dating Deepika Padukone. Seemingly, both are reeling from being dumped and are helping each other in nursing their broken hearts. Shahid has been getting a lot of help in that area ever since Kareena broke his heart a couple of years ago. Maybe it's this experience that he's now putting to use with the newly jilted Deepika, eh? Let's hope this is an affair that lasts...
